| PALO ALTO, Calif., Aug 12, 2003 /PRNewswire
via COMTEX/ -- Palo Alto's acclaimed Tamarine Restaurant & Gallery
unveils its latest contemporary Vietnamese art exhibit and has named the
Asian Art Museum of San Francisco as the sole beneficiary of profits
generated by sales of artworks from the exhibit.
Currently on view at Tamarine Restaurant and Gallery, the
exhibit-featuring eight paintings by six renowned Vietnamese artists --
marks Tamarine's second semi-annual exhibit supporting non-profit
institutions. The artists showcased in the exhibit include: Le Loc, an
impressionist regarded for his use of contrasting colors; Le Tuong, a
neo-realist known for emotive depictions of everyday life; and Luong
Dung, whose dazzling style can be either strong or soft in her
depictions of a world she views to be both mysterious and peaceful.
Other artists include Pham Hoang Anh, Truong Quang Hai, and Do Xuan
Doan. These artists have found extraordinary favor among collectors in
the United States, Europe and Asia.
On November 16, at the conclusion of the exhibit,
the works will be auctioned at a special event hosted by Tamarine
Restaurant & Gallery featuring live jazz, international wines, cocktails
and hors d'oeuvres. The proceeds generated by the auction will be
donated to the Asian Art Museum.
"We are delighted to be the beneficiary of
Tamarine Restaurant's generosity," said Emily Sano, director of the
Asian Art Museum. "Their unique support will help enable the museum to
fulfill its mission of leading a diverse global audience in discovering
the unique material, aesthetic, and intellectual achievements of Asian
art and culture."
"Over the past decade, contemporary Vietnamese art
has become an established and sought after presence in the international
fine art scene," said Anne Le, proprietor of Tamarine Restaurant. "We
are thrilled to not only share the richness of Vietnamese art with the
Bay Area, but also use it as a means to support the Asian Art Museum in
its commitment to promoting the appreciation of Asian culture."
